General Tour Pick-Up Information

The general tour pick up and drop off location will be in Director Park in downtown Portland, at the corner of SW Taylor and SW 9th across the street from Starbucks. This location is easily accessible via the public transit system (MAX line, street car and bus) and is also within walking distance of most downtown hotels. If you are arriving by car, there is a convenient public parking garage near Director Park called SmartPark Garage. Please plan to meet your guide for the Director Park pick up 5 minutes before the tour start time.

Our Tour Vehicles

Our tour vehicle fleet includes late model Mercedes Sprinters and Ford Transit passenger wagons. All of our wagons have best in class interior roof heights, as well as panoramic windows to allow for best visibility during the tour. We’ve also added an extra running board step on every wagon for extra comfort and safety getting in and out of the cabin. We consider our vans part of our tour group family and each van has her own name. Our very first van was named Lucy, and she was followed by Fiona and Molly, and then came Zoe, Dolores and Penny. Finally, the most recent additions to our little family were Barbara and Trudy. Ask your guide which van has the pleasure of taking you on your tour!

Our fleet also includes a late model Cadillac Escalade that is typically set aside for smaller private tour groups. Her name is Nora and she loves exploring just as much as her bigger sister vans!

Frequently Asked Questions

Before The Tour

  • Chevron down How does tour pick up work?
  • Please see above for the hotel pick up as well as the general tour pick up information. If your hotel is not listed above, please plan to meet us for your tour at our central pick up location in Director Park. If you are meeting us at Director Park, please plan to meet your tour guide at the pick-up location five minutes before your tour start time. If we are picking you up from your hotel, the day before your tour we will send out a reminder email that outlines the time we will be outside of your hotel for pick up.

  • Chevron down Can the tour vehicle accommodate a wheelchair?
  • With advanced notice, we are able to accommodate foldable wheelchairs. Please call the Wildwood Adventures office directly before booking your seats on tour, as we will need to see if our vehicle with the appropriate storage capacity is available. Unfortunately, not all our vehicles can accommodate extra belongings. Please remember that all our tour vehicles do require passengers to use two steps to get on board. Our vehicles are not able to accommodate electric or non-foldable wheelchairs.

  • Chevron down I'm a single traveler, but when I try to book a seat on tour, it only allows a purchase of two or more tickets. Do I have to travel with a guest?
  • We would love to explore with you, and you are definitely able to travel with us as a solo guest! What likely is happening is that our tours do not go out without two or more guests on board, so our system will not allow the first guest to be just one person. If this is the case, we have a wait list for solo travelers which prompts the Wildwood office to notify you if a tour has opened up to bookings. Please call our office if you’d like to get on a tour wait list!

  • Chevron down Do you offer any Child/AAA/Senior/etc discounts?
  • Because we specialize in small group tours, all of our seats are sold at the same price.

  • Chevron down Does my child require a purchased seat on the tour?
  • Yes, all passengers on board the vehicle must have a ticket. If you have a stroller, please call the Wildwood Adventures office directly. Not all our vehicles have storage space for strollers, so we may need to check to see if we are able to provide the proper sized vehicle onto the tour you are interested in.

  • Chevron down What are the child/booster seat regulations in Oregon?
  • Infants are required to ride rear-facing until they reach both one year of age and 20 pounds. Children that are over 40 pounds or those who have reached the upper weight limit for their forward-facing car seat must use boosters until they are 4′ 9″ tall or 8 years old. The adult belt must also fit correctly. Please call Wildwood Adventures directly if you will be bringing a child seat, as we’ll need to allow time at pick up for you to install the seat.

  • Chevron down What if I've made a reservation, but can't make it? Is a refund available?
  • Please read the full Terms and Conditions here.

On Tour

  • Chevron down How many fellow travelers should I expect on my tour?
  • We generally limit our group size up to 9-12 travelers to ensure that everyone is comfortable and relaxed. Throughout the high travel season, one can expect tour group sizes to be around 6 to 12 people. During the rest of the year, group sizes can typically range from 2 to 8.

  • Chevron down What about lunch? Is it included?
  • Lunch is not included in the tour price. However, on all full-day tours, we do take about an hour lunch break in the middle of the day where everyone has a chance to explore and eat at one of the many great local cafes and restaurants. Complimentary snacks and refreshments will be available throughout the tour!

  • Chevron down We will be driving for a while, what are the bathroom options?
  • We have tried to include access to public bathrooms at all of our planned stops. No worries though! If the need arises, your guide can find a convenient place to stop. There are no restrooms in our tour vehicles.

  • Chevron down What should I wear?
  • Oregon’s weather, although very temperate, can sometimes be unpredictable. We always recommend checking the weather for Portland the day before your tour to plan on what you should wear. Bringing along a rain jacket and wearing multiple layers is typically the best option for almost anywhere in Oregon. For all tours (Willamette Valley Wine Tasting excluded), we recommend close-toed, comfortable, walking shoes. Umbrellas will be available on the tour.

  • Chevron down What if it rains?
  • With Portland being a rainy city, we will run our tours rain or shine. All our vehicles have umbrellas available for use. If it does end up raining on tour day, you’ll be glad to hear that you’re getting the true Portland experience.😊

  • Chevron down How much walking will be required on tour?
  • We aim to spend about 50% of our time on tour exploring the sights and stretching our legs. There is typically walking required to get the full experience at each stop, but for most of the sights, the actual distance walked is completely up to you. We make time at each stop for personal exploration, so you can choose to find a quiet place to sit, head to the nearest viewing point/platform, or meander further down the path or trail. Unfortunately, there are not many stops on tour that can be experienced if you choose to remain back in the vehicle. For more detailed information on the activity level for a specific tour, please refer to the FAQ section of that tour page.

  • Chevron down Is it customary to tip your guide?
  • Gratuity/tips are not included in the ticket price. If you enjoyed your tour, we generally recommend a 15-20% tip for your guide.
